Crafty

My new favourite website is craftster.org. They recently had a gingerbread house challenge and I figured since I had already made one these holidays with Gonzo's mom I would enter it. I wasn't expecting any votes but I actually got some and got some nice compliments. Here it is

The winning house was a replica of the house in Up. It's amazing!

I made some peppermint mocha cupcakes for my friend who is a huge fan of the starbucks coffee version. I used this recipe http://gimmesomeoven.com/peppermint-mocha-cupcakes/ Mine could've done with stronger coffee I think. I also omitted the peppermint essence and added crushed candy canes instead.

I added this cute owl fabric with some rickrack as a border for a dishcloth. I <3 owls.

This is my latest experiment. I used an old sweater. I wanted to experiment sewing on a knit. My mom thinks she's ugly. I think she's cute in an ugly kinda way. My mom suggested I use her as a pincushion but that seems awfully voodoo to me.

Doggy coat

I'm a dork and felt Yoshi needed a fleece blankie coat thing. I figured I wouldn't make anything too fancy since I wasn't sure he would even tolerate. He seems to be ok with it, not sure that he likes it though.

Christmas gifts

Here's a bag I made for my dog crazy mommy friend.

And a bag for mother in law

And a taggy comfort blankie for my favourite 6 month old

Pupcakes

I've decided to change the focus of my LJ to be more about my food and creative endeavors. It's probably not that interesting to anyone else but I figured it's a good way to keep track of my stuff anyway.

Last weekend (Aug 29th) was Yoshi, my dog's first birthday. Being the big dork that I am, I decided to make Yoshi themed pupcakes. Here's the result....

and a close up

Not bad for a first try.
